Mrs. Brimage's class is using the Class Dojo program to help log points and determine who the weekly "Captain/ Mermaid of the Sea" will be on Fridays! There is a boy and a girl student chosen each Friday to recognize their positive behavior that week. These students are given a choice of reward/ special privilege on Friday to reward their hard work. By checking in with Class Dojo, you can see how your child's behavior is looking! If you are new to ClassDojo... Follow these steps below: 1. Get the free ClassDojo app 2. Tap “Create a new account” 3. Sign up as a “Parent” 4. Enter the parent code : P7YH4U3 Or Or join our class at www.classdojo.com/P7YH4U3 Please be sure to check your child's binder and speak with them about their classroom behavior and classwork. In my experience, I have observed that students respond well and succeed more when they know that their parents are aware of what is going on in class. They work harder and make better decisions regarding behavior and academic expectations when they feel they have motivation to do so. Parents are the primary source of this motivation. If you notice that your child is not coming home with all smiles for the week or receiving classwork feedback that asks them to redo, complete their work, consider coming up with a positive reinforcement plan at home to support their classroom goals.
Some of the suggestions that I often give and know to be successful are: - Offering a Friday reward for the specific area of concern/ challenge - Checking conduct and classwork daily and discussing it with your child (positive areas and areas of concern) - Supporting the classroom routines/expectations with consequences at home. When you see a negative pattern in specific areas of behavior/ classwork expectations. (Because of the amount of warnings that are given and the season of year, twice a week means that it has or could become a serious problem for your child and/or the learning experience of others.) Please understand that my hope is to create a positive learning environment for all, and I feel personally responsible for preparing kindergarten students for the high expectations in 1st grade. Our parent-teacher partnership is appreciated and I will gladly help with any advice, additional information or any other questions/concerns you may have. Please feel free to contact me anytime! Thank you so much for all that you do and will continue to do to support the classroom experience. It is noticed and it matters!! Our Valentine party will held on Friday at 1:30. To make it a success, please check your child's binder on Monday and read the letter. It will include important information about how to prepare the Valentines, a class list and you will be asked to send a specific item for the snack activity. Thank you for reading it thoroughly and responding promptly. I am thankful for parents who are diligent participants and a great support to me as your child's teacher. Parents: Reading Logs are due on Fridays. There are many students that are not returning their reading minutes. A new sheet is coming home with them today. The program ends on the 19th!
Please make sure that you have read, logged, and turned in all 360 mins on time. This campus endorsed opportunity supports reading while earning a Six Flags ticket. 100% participation is both our class and MMV goal, so let's work together to make this happen! Once again, thank you for supporting students and teachers by encouraging them to persevere until they complete this goal. Praise them for their efforts and hard work!
